History of The PBM game Loremasters of Corlean
In these Times the First born walked Corlean. They were the Dwarves of Corl and were Called the Corlan Kavak. A proud race with eyes that shone like the bluest saphiarin gem. They had great magics at their control and sailed the skies in great ships of rock and lived in cities carved from the heart of the mountains. The first of the Corlan Kavak was Kavakar the mighty who now it is said sleeps in the heart of the word holding Corls own hammer "Hagask-Coraladak" the world forger. After the dwarves came the people of Arel, the Elves, called the Arelin Ar Mayrar. Their home was the massive forest island of Lin-Arelin-Telfar. The two races did not meet often and when they did found that they could not understand each other. The Elves language was one of the wind in the trees of bird song, the sound of woodland streams. The Dwarves language was of the movement of rocks, deep subteranean lakes, dripping caverns of crystal.
The third race were the Dragons. The first was Aphmorak the Proud, amoung the others were Clegasdi, Shaklannygal and Merrisderil. It is not know which god gave life to the dragons some legends say that they were born out of the dreams of the Elves and Dwarves, given power by the hand of Olran.
After the Dragons came the race of Man, by the will of all the gods. It was the race of Man that gave thier language to the Elves and Dwarves so that all could communicate.
The god Storn and the Goddess Alya grew jealous of the Elves and Dwarves and made a new race in reply, they were hidden at first but then slowly as they increased in numbers they were seen more and more. At first they only raided the Mannish settlements burning and destroying when there was nothing left to steal but then they grew bolder sending armies to assail the cities of the Dwarves and the forests of the Elves. They were of two disticnt breeds the Storak- Aldar the goblins of Storn and the smaller Alyakor the plague goblins of Alya. The Goblin races bred faster than the Elves, Dwarves and Men and so soon became a threat to the three elder races. It was at this point that Rela, Yal and Arel intervened. They all took a number of this race and taught them anew and so were born the Relanarod - The snow goblins, The Yarran - The sand Goblins and the Arakrel the Wood Goblins. Theses new breeds slowed the spread of the other Goblin races and addded to the numbers who would stand against them. Corl himself wished to aid his children in thier battles against the Goblin raiders and so made the Vilshanak, the Gnomes. The Vilshanak however did not want to share the caves and mountains with the Dwarves and grew spiteful and beligerent. They turned to the ways of Dalot and so became the Dalo-Vilsh and moved to the deeper caves at the roots of the world. Legends say that somewhere the Vilshanak who did not follow the ways of Dalot live still fighting an undending war against the Dalo-Vilsh.
The Elves mastered a breed of Dragon. Soon the skies above Lin-Arelin-Telfar were filled with Dragon Riders. The pride and power of the Elves was soon to be the instrument of the downfall of thier great realm.
In the forests of Lin-Arelin-Telfar lived many of the Arakrel. The Elves began to resent their Goblin neighbours and soon tempers flared and a few minor battles broke out. However the Elves held council and declared war. Arakrel were hunted from the forests of the world and then where possible chased on dragon back. They stood little chance and their numbers dwindled. Arel was at first saddened and then angered by the actions of the Elves. With regret he called upon the power of his brother Rish and the island of Lin-Arelin-Telfar was deluged by giant waves. As the Elves drowned both Arel and Rish took pity on them and saved many of the race from the waters. Thoose saved by Rish became the Rin-Shanu and lived far out to sea. Of the elves saved by Arel were thoose who wished to stay on the now barren island and became the Ar-Ha Kaynu and thoose who went to live among the forests of mainland the Arelin. There was a third race but their existence did not become apparent for many years. There were Elves who had long before the flood embraced the ways of Dalot they were saved by the god and then crawled into the dark places of the world and fought the goblins, dwarves and gnomes for a place to live. They were the Hanave Dalon, The Stone elves.
The great age of the Elves had come to an end and so also began the waining of the Dwarves. Many of the first born race becam discontent in the caves of their fathers and wanted to feel the touch of Yal on their faces. They left the caves and went to live in the hills near the settlements of Man. They became the Garkan the Trader Dwarves. The dwarves who remained in the mountain halls became more and more isolationist and eventually became a separate race, the Kadara - Cor - Ganak.
